Terms and conditions

Last updated: October 2026

These terms govern the use of the BolivianPress platform, operated by BolivianPress (“BolivianPress”). By creating an account or using the platform you accept them.

1. Definitions

“Platform”: the BolivianPress website and services. “Creator”: a journalist, agency or freelancer in Bolivia who offers content. “Outlet”: a traditional or digital media outlet, in Bolivia or elsewhere, that buys or obtains licenses. “Content”: photos, audio, video, texts and pre-recorded programs. “License”: the permission to use a Content under these terms.

2. Accounts

  • You must provide truthful, current information and keep it up to date from “My profile”.
  • Accounts are reviewed and approved manually, and you must verify your email address. We may reject or suspend accounts that do not meet these terms.
  • You are responsible for keeping your password secret and for everything done with your account.
  • You must be of legal age, or act on behalf of an organization authorized to accept these terms.

3. Obligations of Creators

  • You must be the author of the Content or hold all the rights needed to license it, and you must not infringe third-party rights, privacy or image rights. Where required, you must hold the consent of identifiable people (and of the guardians of minors).
  • You declare, for each piece, that it is original and was not generated or altered with artificial intelligence. Basic corrections (exposure, crop, noise) that do not change the facts shown are allowed.
  • The Content must be truthful and must not be manipulated to mislead. Illegal content, content inciting violence or hatred, or gratuitous graphic violence is prohibited.
  • You set the price and license type of each piece. You grant BolivianPress a non-exclusive right to display previews and to intermediate licenses on your behalf.
  • Every piece is reviewed before publication. We may reject, unpublish or remove any Content that does not meet these terms.

4. Licenses for Outlets

  • Free license: free editorial use, crediting the author. Multi-outlet license: non-exclusive use by the licensee on any of its platforms; other outlets may also license the same piece. Single-outlet (exclusive) license: once purchased, the Content is removed from the marketplace and no other outlet receives a license through BolivianPress.
  • Use is editorial. You must credit the author and BolivianPress as the source.
  • The license is personal, non-transferable and perpetual for the use described, and does not allow sublicensing, resale or redistribution of the original file.
  • You may not use the Content to train, feed or fine-tune artificial intelligence systems, nor alter it in a way that distorts the facts it records.
  • Each license has a number and a certificate that can be verified on the Platform.

5. Prices and payments

Prices are shown in US dollars (USD). You can pay by PayPal (automatic confirmation) or by QR / bank transfer in bolivianos (confirmed manually after you upload your receipt), at the exchange rate set by the Platform at the time of the order.

Single-outlet Content is reserved for you while your order is open. If payment is not completed in time, the order expires and the Content is released.

Each party is responsible for the taxes and fees that correspond to it by law, including payment-processor fees.

6. Commission and payments to Creators

  • BolivianPress keeps a commission on each sale; the current percentage is shown in the Creator’s Finance panel and is recorded in each sale.
  • Each sale becomes available to withdraw after a holding period (to cover possible refunds). Withdrawals have a minimum amount and are paid by PayPal or bank transfer.
  • Refunds, chargebacks and sanctions may be deducted from the Creator’s balance.

7. Downloads and refunds

After payment confirmation you can download the original file through temporary links, with a limited number of downloads per license.

Once the original file has been downloaded, payments are not refunded, except when the Content does not match its description, has technical faults that prevent its use, infringes third-party rights, or is shown to have been generated with artificial intelligence. A refund revokes the license.

8. Artificial intelligence and sanctions

If it is shown that a piece was generated or altered with artificial intelligence, or that it infringes rights, we may unpublish it, refund the Outlets, withhold or deduct payments to the Creator, and suspend or close the account.

9. Intellectual property of the Platform

The BolivianPress name, logo, design and software belong to BolivianPress or its licensors. These terms do not give you rights over them. Creators keep the ownership of their Content.

10. Availability and liability

The Platform is provided “as is”. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.

BolivianPress acts as an intermediary. We are not responsible for the editorial use that Outlets make of the Content, nor for its accuracy beyond the review we carry out.

To the extent permitted by law, our liability toward you is limited to the amount you paid or received in the transaction that gave rise to the claim.

11. Suspension and termination

You may close your account at any time by contacting us. We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms. Licenses already issued remain valid unless they are revoked for the reasons stated above.

12. Changes

We may update these terms. We will announce relevant changes on the Platform or by email. Continuing to use the Platform after the change means you accept it.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Plurinational State of Bolivia. Any dispute will be submitted to the competent courts of the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia.
